All investigations are conducted with consistent thoroughness and impartiality. We ensure that the process for reporting incidents is uniform for everyone, including CapMetro employees. There will be no different process for staff when reporting a crime or other concerns. Our investigative team will contact all relevant parties, including CapMetro employees and any witnesses, to gather comprehensive information and follow up as necessary. This approach ensures that all facts are considered and that every investigation is conducted fairly. -CapMetro

Answer
Eyewitness identifications often serve as the first step in identifying suspects. When a crime occurs and eyewitnesses are present, law enforcement officers will interview them to gather descriptions of the perpetrator or perpetrators. Eyewitness identifications are considered as one piece of evidence among others in an ongoing investigation. Once a suspect is identified, law enforcement will gather additional evidence to corroborate the identification, such as physical evidence, CCTV footage, alibis, or witness testimony. Eyewitness identifications can also help exclude innocent individuals who may have been mistakenly suspected of involvement in the crime. As a police agency we do not solely rely on eye witness ID but it is a step in the process. -CapMetro TPD

Question
How would witness statements by CapMetro staff be taken or perceived? This being in comparison to a non-affiliated citizen. Would there be a different process for CapMetro staff to report.

Question
How are eyewitness identifications used in identifying subjects? Are they taken at their word or are they taken with some discretion?
